Rich "The Locust" LeFevre fought off the heat and Ron Koch to secure victory at the Las Vegas Nathan's Famous qualifier with 26 HDBs in 10 minutes. The Optic, Ron Koch, ate an impressive 21 HDBs for 2nd place, trailing LeFevre by only three HDBs throughout the event until slipping to a five-HDB deficit in the final minute.

Jason Leeos, a rookie, ate 14 HDBs for third, and Richard Wasserman ate 13 for fourth.

It was 98 degrees in the sun in Las Vegas, but the heat dropped noticeably when the arena fell into shadow in the final portion of the contest. LeFvere and Koch endured the heat better than the rest of the field, but they slowed their pace midway through the contest.
