Nathan's Famous July 4 Eating Contest Resource Center

As five-time hot dog-eating champion Takeru Kobayashi of Japan prepares for his biggest challenge ever, eating fans from around the globe are set to converge on Coney Island. Get there early as this year’s crowd is expected to be bigger than ever (last year’s was estimated at 10,000 people). Nathan’s sells cold sodas and beers in big paper cups to keep you hydrated. Of course, there are also a few hot dogs available.

An insider’s scoop for true eating fans: the competitive eating community’s favorite post party spot is Ruby's Bar and Grill Between Stillwell and 12th on the boardwalk. Ruby’s is a stone’s throw from Shoot the Freak and it lays claim to Coney’s best juke box and coldest beers.

Those spending the day in Coney Island may also want to visit the Wonder Wheel, Cyclone, Aquarium or The freak show at Coney Island USA www.coneyisland.com.
